 | Victor Husband to Simini Brother-in-law to Lincy Victor was born into a Christian family in Hubli, Karnataka. He is the oldest child in his family and has two younger sisters. His father was a pastor and his mother a school principal. Victor learned to read the Bible at an early age. In November of 1999, Victor attended a youth retreat in Dawangeti, where he served as part of the worship team. A pastor there, who had been filled with the Spirit, called Victor out and said “The Lord wants your whole life in service for Him.” He accepted Christ then and was baptized two months later. Because of financial difficulties, Victor was unable to attend Bible College. But his church was able to provide three months of praise and worship training for him in Bangalore. After his schooling, Victor returned to Hubli and worked as a worship leader for his home church. As his longing to understand the Bible increased, Victor felt called to preach the Word of God through song and music. He strongly desired to attend Bible college, but could not afford the fees. Finally, Victor found and entered a free Bible college in Rajasthan, and four months later, was sent to Delhi for field work, where he ministered in leper colonies and the slum areas. He also assisted another pastor in starting a children’s home in Chawla Village. Within a year and a half, there were over four hundred children at this orphanage. Three years later, there were three hundred fifty children. At the time, there were only two staff members at this orphanage, so Victor worked from 4:30 a.m. every morning to past midnight every night. Twice a week, he traveled by bicycle from the orphanage to the leper colony. He also worked on his thesis for the Bible College every night for almost three hours. After three years of working at the orphanage, two sisters arrived from southern India. Their names were Lincy and Simini. Victor married Simini, and two years later, they (along with Lincy and her daughter, Sandra) moved to Haryana to start Asha House. Victor works as director at Asha House. |
