Vandena: Age: 5 years old: Vandena enjoys being naughty. She likes to play in the water in the bathroom and make it dirty. She also enjoys being held and carried around by other kids. During naptime she will pretend to be asleep and then escape the room when the staff isn’t looking. Vandena is from a tribal area of Bihar, a location without modern technology, schools, or hospitals. There are eleven children in her family. Her mother has partial paralysis and while she has recovered some, she is unable to move or walk enough to work. Her Vandena’s father is a rickshaw driver in the city of Bihar. Her family is so poor that they cannot afford to call or visit her. When Vandena came to Asha, she had a swollen belly from malnutrition. Now she has recovered and has a healthy appetite. She is being tutored at Asha House and struggles with her studies. |
