Simon: Age: 5 years old: Though Simon first appears quiet and reserved, when he is with the other boys he gets rambunctious. Like all boys, he loves to have fun. He is good at his studies and will go to school next year. Simon is also from Bihar, in a tribal area with no modern technology. There are no hospitals or schools in Bihar. He comes from a Christian family. Simon’s father makes thirty rupees a day (the equivalent of sixty cents USD) and cannot afford to take care of Simon’s mother, whose is very sick. Simon speaks the language of Bihar, so he has to learn both Hindi and English in order to communicate at Asha. His other siblings are spread out in various hostels throughout India.
