Mary: Age: 6 years old: Mary does not enjoy school, but she loves to cause trouble. Nothing can make her study if she doesn’t want to. She loves sneaking into the kitchen. She is good at her chores, however, and helping around the house. She does enjoy helping prepare meals for the orphanage. Mary’s family is very poor. Her parents are very sick, so her thirteen-year-old sister works in the field for seventy-five rupees a day (roughly $1.50 USD). They are so poor that they cannot afford food and the family is worried that Mary’s father will die soon.
