Lepers
Share/Save/Bookmark
Lepers are members of the lowest untouchable caste.  They are rejected by their community, and often their family.  They are placed in quarantine centers known as Leprosy Societies.  From here they go to the market to beg for food and money.  They live only with other lepers and rarely have much contact with outsiders of the colony.  Asha seeks to love these rejected ones by visiting them and sharing the Gospel with them, sending the American teams there to build relationships and love these diseased men and women.  The lepers are quick to befriend, grateful for anyone who cares about them enough to visit and hold them.  They don’t expect to be touched by anyone, and to see how their hearts melt when people come and hold tightly their withered hands and put their arm around their slumped shoulders is a powerful testimony to the power of the Gospel.
