Jyoti Kumari: Age: 6 years old: Jyoti is a sweet, beautiful helper who constantly has a smile on her face. She helps with cleaning, taking care of Tabitha, and the younger kids. She is very good a school, very quiet, and has a sweet, kind voice. Jyoti is from a tribal area of Bihar, in a village with no modern technology, schools, or hospitals. Her father is too sick to be able to work and her mother is a field laborer who only makes thirty rupees a day (about sixty cents USD). She has two younger sisters and one older sister, who works with her mother in the fields. There is not enough income to provide for her father’s medical care and provide for the family as well. Jyoti is very good at her studies and will be attending school this year. |
