Jyoti is such a wonderful and joy filled girl. Due to a problem with her brain she has been on medication for almost a year now. Just recently we have noticed that she is not feeling well and will more than likely be taking her in for a check up. Jyoti is also planning on beggining school this term so it is crucial that she is feeling well enough for this next step. Please pray for her health and wellness as she begins this new journey. Thank you all. |

Jyoti: Age: 3 years old: Jyoti loves her papa, Victor, who is the head of Asha House. She adores him and isn’t afraid of anything if he is around. She will even “threaten” the other kids that she will “tell Papa” on them when they don’t do what she wants! She enjoys getting others into trouble, watching television in the evenings, and to eat. She will even eat mud if no one is watching. Jyoti was born into a Hindu family in Bihar, in a tribal village with no modern technology, hospitals, or schools. Jyoti’s father left when she was a baby, took her twin brother with him, and married another woman. Her mother had an affair and one night, her boyfriend killed Jyoti’s mother. Jyoti was left to beg with her older brother for three months. Jyoti was rescued when an aunt discovered both her and her older brother. Because her aunt had nine children, she decided to keep Jyoti’s brother and gave Jyoti to Pastor Lalmoni, the pastor in the slums. Jyoti came to Asha House when she was eighteen months old. Because she was so young, she doesn’t remember any of this. It is possible that Jyoti has memory problems and could even be forgetting the things she is learning now, like Bible stories and verses.
